Partner Zaina Khoury Presents at CAASNY 2026 Annual Meeting
On Monday, May 18, 2026, Bleakley Platt Partner Zaina Khoury presented “Data Security Laws Applicable to New York Municipalities and Public Authorities” to the County Attorney’s Association of the State of New York at their 2026 Annual Meeting in Cooperstown, NY.
The presentation detailed current cybersecurity statutes that govern New York municipalities, including Chapter 177 of 2025 (S.7672A / A.6769A) which went into effect on January 1, 2026. This recent legislation created new reporting requirements for increasingly common cybersecurity incidents and ransomware attacks. The presentation ended with suggested best practices for municipalities such as developing and maintaining a Data Security Compliance Program, ensuring annual training for employees, and allocating the necessary budget resources for compliance.
It was a great honor for Bleakley, Platt & Schmidt partners to participate in this year’s Annual Meeting.
