Biography
Mr. Planell is a member of the Firm's Managing Committee and the head of the Trusts and Estates Practice Group. Mr. Planell concentrates his practice in the areas of trusts, estates, estate planning and taxation.
His practice includes the preparation of wills, trusts and related estate planning documents and the representation of Executors, Trustees and beneficiaries in Surrogate's Court proceedings and with respect to the administration of estates and trusts. He also provides analysis and advice regarding estate tax, gift tax and fiduciary income tax matters.
Mr. Planell has been an Adjunct Professor at Pace University (Estate
Planning) and a frequent lecturer at bar associations, business
groups and charitable organizations on topics involving the area
of trusts and estates law.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Planell participates in several
charitable and community organizations. He serves on the Board of
Directors of the New York Medical College and St. Mary's Healthcare System
for Children. Mr. Planell also is the Chair of the Board of Advisors of
the Westchester Community Foundation, and a member of the Board of
Trustees of the Msgr. John J. Foley Scholarship Trust Fund.

Mr. Planell is a member and former Director of the Estate Planning Council of Westchester, as well as the Tax Section of the Westchester County Bar Association. He is also a member of the New York State Bar Association.
